Meet Mrs. Melanie

Melanie graduated from Loris High School with high academic achievement honored by the National Honors Society, Beta Club, Who’s Who Among American Students, Foreign Language Student of the Year, and Outstanding Teacher Cadet. Also an ambitious athlete, she earned MVP and Best Performance awards in cross country, soccer, and track and field. Melanie earned her Associate in Science degree from HGTC, and her Bachelor of Science in Biology for CCU with an emphasis in Ecology, Environment, and Education. At CCU, she worked as a research assistant under Dr. John Goodwin. Melanie served as a natural history intern at Playcard Environmental Center under the leadership of Ben Abercrombie. Melanie performed as a local Mad Scientist throughout Horry County for children K-5. In December 2015, she launched Brainworks, a mobile tutoring service in North Myrtle Beach, where she was given the opportunity to serve local students of all ages. Melanie gained a range of experience that ultimately led to the development of SAM Studio. One thing that has always remained is a passion for science and a desire to share that with children.
